Glaucoma, a progressive and vision-losing eye condition, is the primary cause of irreversible blindness globally. In rural and underprivileged communities in India, early diagnosis is severely hampered by the scarcity of ophthalmic specialists and expensive diagnostic equipment. This leads to a high rate of undiagnosed cases.

The Sri Sairam Engineering College IEEE Student Branch is actively developing a Retino-Oculometric Dual-Layer System. This innovative system is designed to provide rapid ocular health triage, specifically targeting the critical need for early glaucoma diagnosis in underserved areas.

The expected outcome is to significantly improve access to early glaucoma diagnosis, especially for rural and underprivileged populations. This will enable timely intervention, preventing irreversible blindness. The project anticipates impacting 47 individuals in the short term and 153 in the long term.

This project was made possible by $5,420.00 in funding from EPICS in IEEE.
