This IEEE Uganda Section Young Professionals project details constructing and installing a plastic extruder machine at Ankole Institute. This will help enrich the overall goal of “creating a sustainable and environmentally responsible solution for plastic waste management” and fully meeting the objectives of the Establishment of an effective Recycling center at the Ankole Institute project. The project will significantly help reduce pollution since the rate of recycling will increase as large quantities of plastic waste pollutants will be collected from the environment and converted into blocks. No waste will leave the recycling center.
This project will also help create employment opportunities for Ugandans, thus reducing the unemployment rate, especially among youth from underserved communities and those living in poverty. The paving blocks will be used to eliminate dusty compounds and soil erosion in developing schools, people’s homes, etc.
This project was made possible by $9,055.00 in funding from the IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society (APS), an EPICS in IEEE partner.
