COMMUNITY PARTNER: Christian Fraternity of People with Disabilities of Bolivia "FRATER"

Over 49,000 people in Bolivia live with moderate to severe motor disabilities, facing mobility limitations and complications from lack of movement.

Access to vital rehabilitation equipment, such as active lower-limb exoskeletons, is severely limited, particularly in underserved communities. The Universidad Mayor de San Andrés WIE SB Affinity Group, along with the Christian Fraternity of People with Disabilities of Bolivia (FRATER), is developing a practical, low-cost solution designed to improve access to rehabilitation technology within local resource constraints.

The goal is to increase mobility, support rehabilitation, and improve the quality of life for individuals with motor disabilities.

This project was made possible by $5,000 in funding from the Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), an EPICS in IEEE partner.
