The intelligent bookshelf is designed for disabled students who are unable to reach the standard bookshelves provided in school residence halls or classrooms, such as those who use wheelchairs. To the best of our knowledge, there are no schools in China providing the kind of bookshelves, leaving the students bring their own furniture to fit their needs.
Through this bookshelf, whose direction and height are adjustable, could minimize the children’s moving costs and make them a more convenient life in school. What is more, it provides a storage room for students’ personal belongings. And more functions would be achieved through electronic techniques.
The bookshelf may have a promising application in special education school, public library and other communal facilities.
