Most smartphones look pretty similar for the most part right? Google’s Pixel 3, Apple’s iPhone XR, and Samsung’s Galaxy S10 Plus, they are sleek flat screen phones that utilize a powerful camera. However, Sony plans to break away from this mold with a phone that rolls up.

You heard that correctly, Sony is reportedly working on a phone that would roll up like paper. Sony revealed a patent showing possible phone designs which gives an idea of what the phone could end up looking like.

Sony’s device will reportedly use specifications that are comparable to other smart-phones: a Snapdragon 855 processor, a 3220 maH battery, and a 10x zoom camera. Interestingly enough, none of Sony’s other phones have made use of this type of camera before.

Sony plans to launch their rollable device in December of 2019 or early 2020. It will be interesting to see what type of impact this device will have on the market. Rollable screens could make it easier to carry tablet-sized devices.
